London Ambulance Service use VR to Support Trauma-Informed Practice
Cornerstone Talks returns with a new episode exploring the use of virtual reality with paramedics.
In this episode, our VR Service Manager, Shalene Lemmie, is joined by Hannah Whittington, Deputy Head of Safeguarding, London Ambulance Service.
Hannah shares how the service were seeking other mediums to support their crew and were inspired to use Cornerstone VR from the positive feedback from other trusts.
Since integrating VR technology, the service has revolutionised its training approach, creating a CPD course named 'Have You Seen Me?'
The course focuses on trauma-informed practice, emphasising the holistic view of patients. Utilising Cornerstone's VR programme, staff are immersed in scenarios to better understand and support the people involved with emergency calls, particularly concerning children.
The service's feedback indicates that VR training has prompted deep reflection among staff, enhancing their understanding and approach to patient care and improving the quality of referrals.
