National Technology Awards 2025

Proud to be Finalists at the National Technology Awards 2025!

Blog post by Mohammed Hussain, Managing Director at Cornerstone VR

I’m pleased to share that Cornerstone VR has been shortlisted for Best Public Sector Project at the National Technology Awards 2025 for our work with Nottinghamshire County Council!

When we started our partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council and their Developmental Trauma and Attachment Team (DTAT), our mission was clear: to help professionals across Nottinghamshire, and the families working with them, to better understand childhood trauma.

Trauma shapes lives, and to truly build empathy and aid deeper understanding of these lived experiences, we believe experiential learning via virtual reality is the most effective resource to promote positive outcomes for young people and the adults supporting them.

By embedding VR into trauma-awareness programmes, Cornerstone VR has helped:

  • Make learning more engaging and memorable
  • Scale training across council teams efficiently
  • Drive real change, reducing family re-referrals
  • Strengthen trauma-informed practice across Nottinghamshire

It’s been inspiring to see how immersive learning is helping professionals step into the shoes of those they support, leading to deeper understanding, better decisions, and improved lives.

The VR programme has expanded across multiple departments within Nottinghamshire County Council, including: Court Teams, Children with Disabilities Team, Stronger Families Team, Kinship Service Team and the Residential Social Work Team.

Nottinghamshire County Council’s DTAT team told us:

“The VR is so dynamic, it can be used in many different ways. We’ve got lots of ideas about how we want to take that forward in the future with professionals and families. It’s going to be something that continues to develop.”

We’re watching this space for the further growth of Cornerstone VR across Nottingham County Council and look forward to hearing more fantastic stories about the lives changed through the use of VR support and intervention.

A massive thank you to our partners at Nottinghamshire County Council, DTAT, and our amazing team at Cornerstone VR. Your dedication to innovation is changing lives.

Being nominated alongside such fantastic projects is an honour, and we’re cheering for all the finalists.
