Overview

This highly specialised course supports participants in developing a better understanding of fundamentals of supervision by encouraging workers to reflect upon their own work, whilst providing adequate support in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes

Grasp the principles and theories of effective supervision.

Reflect on local supervision policies and processes.

Recognise the importance of supervision history and the role of supervision contracts/agreements.

Utilise the systemic role of supervision to inform and enhance practice.

Experiment with approaches/styles to suit a range of practice settings.

Be able to support staff in identifying and managing risks.

Acquire skills to build supervision that can be challenging, reflective and analytical (with staff wellbeing at the forefront).

Learn new tools to facilitate critical thinking and analysis.

Be able to support workers in analysing information and making informed decisions in complex situations.

Know how to create actionable plans to improve supervision and outcomes.

Understand the impact of secondary trauma and develop strategic to mitigate its effects.

Description

This course emphasises the critical role of supervision in meeting the needs of children, young people and families, while striving for best practice. It encourages participants to reflect on their own work and offers practical support to enhance workplace supervision. Tailored for practitioners (including senior leaders) this course focuses on strengthening the quality and consistency of supervision.
