Virtual reality in
fostering and adoption

Use Cornerstone VR to help foster and adoptive parents better understand the emotional and psychological needs of children in care.

Why Should You Use VR In Fostering And Adoption?

Cornerstone VR's virtual reality films simulate real-life scenarios, allowing viewers to step into the shoes of foster and adopted children and experience their challenges and emotions firsthand. The interactive nature of VR helps in training carers, parents and practitioners to enhance their skills in handling complex situations with sensitivity and care.

Here are just some of the examples of how Cornerstone VR has been used in fostering and adoption:

Embedded in Induction Training for Children’s Service Staff

Our VR programme has been
integrated into the induction training programs for children’s service staff, providing an immersive and engaging way for new hires to understand the complexities of their roles.

Adoption and Fostering Pre and Post Approval Training

Using our VR, prospective foster and adoptive parents can spectate real-world scenarios that provide insights into the challenges of caring for a child. This approach equips parents with the tools necessary to create a supportive home for their children.

Children Home’s Staff Training

By immersing staff in our VR programme, they're able to learn new skills and strategies in a safe environment. The VR programme encourages staff to adapt their approaches, leading to improved outcomes for children in their care.

Flourish Fostering

Flourish Fostering uses Cornerstone VR to tackle prevalent topics, such as childhood trauma, child sexual and criminal exploitation (CSE and CCE), and train Foster Parents in advanced subjects more quickly, providing a realistic perspective of fostering that facilitates deep understanding and empathy for each child’s lived experience.

Hampshire County Council

Having been introduced to virtual reality (VR) technology through one of Cornerstone VR’s online webinars, Hampshire Children’s Services and Isle of Wight Council (IOW) Children’s Services made the decision to implement a project to trial the use of virtual reality across a number of teams.
